SC State Library announces New Online Academic Resources

The South Carolina State Library (State Library) announced new online academic resources available for residents of South Carolina. The resources include Science Online, Today’s Science, PebbleGo Next Science, and ProQuest Historical Newspapers. Patrons must be South Carolina residents to access these free, trusted academic resources.
Science Online, Today’s Science, and PebbleGo Next Science are available through Discus, a department of the State Library that provides educational resources to South Carolinians. Science Online is a database covering the scientific fields of study. Providing material for learners from middle school through adults, Science Online offers eLearning modules, ethics in science and technology, videos and animations, interactive experiments, and suggested research ideas. Another resource, Today’s Science, provides in-depth explanations of important advances in biology, chemistry, environmental science, space, physics, and technology, ranging from high school students to adult researchers. This database provides information for Advanced Placement (AP) courses and STEM programming for high school and adult researchers. In addition, PebbleGo Next Science provides academic resources for students in grades 3-5 who are researching science careers or studying technology, earth, life, or physical sciences. Patrons must request the Discus login to access these online resources.
ProQuest Historical Newspapers is a collection of historical, state, local, and regional news from 1881 to the present. The collection includes The Greenville News, Anderson Independent Mail, and USA Today. These collections span a variety of topics, from major issues and events to different levels of politics, offering valuable state and local news coverage trusted by researchers. Patrons must have a State Library card to access this resource.
