Results for two Darlington County run-off elections

Two runoff elections were held on Tuesday, November 21 to decide the races for Darlington City Council’s Ward 1 and Hartsville City Council’s District 1. In both races, the incumbents were ousted by their challengers.

Darlington Mayor Pro Tem Coleman Cannon lost his re-election bid as challenger Sheila Baccus defeated him by a margin of over 100 votes. The final tally was 236 for Baccus and 133 for Cannon. Baccus received the majority of her votes as 158 absentee ballots. Cannon received 40 absentee votes.

Tre Gammage defeated Hartsville City Council member Adlena Graham by a count of 69 to 47 votes. Gammage received 9 absentee votes, while Graham received 31.

No emergency, failsafe, or provisional ballots remain to be counted.

Voter turnout was very light for these races, with only 487 ballots cast from a pool of 2,654 eligible voters.
