Rapist arrested, denied bond

An arrest was made on Thursday, May 28th in the kidnapping and rape of a Hartsville teen on May 20. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of Florence County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and Florence City Police Department arrested Antwine Anealous Ham, 34, of 2111 S. Pine Forest Drive Apartment B 4, Florence, on Friday, with the kidnapping and rape of the Hartsville Middle School student as she was walking on West Bobo Newsome Highway in Hartsville towards Hartsville Middle School.

After stopping his car and asking the young teen if she wanted a ride, the suspect grabbed her and pulled her to the back of the Fleur de Lis store and raped her.
The sheriff’s office received a tip, and the DNA sample from the victim was a direct match to the suspect.

Ham has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree and Kidnapping. He is 6’ 2” and weighs 240 lbs.

Shortly after the incident, the sheriff’s department released a composite sketch and a security camera image of the man and a description of his vehicle.
Bond was denied at his hearing on Friday, May 29; a trial date has been set for August 12.
