The Fourth Turn
Darlington Raceway recently donated Gatorade and thousands of branded products to Darlington High School Athletics.
The one-time donation to the public school’s athletic department consisted of 78 cases of Gatorade, equal to 312 gallons. Darlington Raceway also donated 20,000 Gatorade branded cups and hand towels.
“We are more than happy to support the Darlington County School District and their athletic department with this donation,” Darlington Raceway President Kerry Tharp said.
“We try to do our part to be good community partners and this is just another way to accomplish that goal.”
Darlington High School has an enrollment of more than 1,100 students, and it’s located just over two miles from the track. The high school features more than 20 athletic teams for its students to compete in regionally.
“The donation from the Darlington Raceway is a great blessing to our Athletic Department,” said Darlington High School Athletics Director Michael Jordan.
“We are very blessed to have the Raceway as a member of the Darlington High School Team. We also received several cases of cups for our student-athletes.
“The community and the business partners that we have lending us their support is essential to our athletic program reaching our goal of becoming one of the best athletic programs in the state.”
Gatorade is an official partner of the 1.366-mile track that’s owned by the International Speedway Corporation (ISC). Most notably, Gatorade sponsors Victory Lane at the historic facility.
During the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 and NASCAR Xfinity Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 on Labor Day weekend, Darlington Raceway goes through a large amount of Gatorade products. This included products not used during the race weekend.
