Public hearing planned for children’s issues

A public hearing on issues impacting the lives of South Carolina’s children will be held in Florence on October 6, 2015, at 5:00pm in the Fred C. Fore Auditorium of Florence-Darlington Tech, 2715 West Lucas Street. The hearing is being held by the Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children.

Persons wanting to testify in person may sign up at the hearing and will be recognized on a first come, first serve basis for a maximum of five minutes.

The Committee is seeking public input for its 2016 legislative and regulatory recommendations. The committee is chaired by Senator Mike Fair of Greenville, and consists of three State Senators and three Members of the House of Representatives and three members appointed by the Governor.

Marie M. Land of Manning, a gubernatorial appointee, represents the Pee Dee region on the Committee. Also serving on the committee are ex officio members, including State Superintendent of Education, Molly Spearman, and the directors of four child serving state agencies.
