Predator attacks Hartsville youth: manhunt ongoing

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a youth in Hartsville.
According to reports from law enforcement, on Wednesday, May 20 around 6:30 p.m. the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bo Bo Newsome Hwy/Hwy151 between Shaw Dr. and Fourteenth St. in the Hartsville area of Darlington County where a victim, whom is a minor, was sexually assaulted.

According to reports from Darlington County Sheriff J. Wayne Byrd, law officials are looking for a black male suspect with the following description:
• Black male
• Approximately 6 foot tall
• Weighing around 200 lbs.
• Bald, with no facial hair.
• Wearing black long cargo shorts, red shirt with black and white stripes, and black sneakers.
• Driving older model Trail Blazer, light grey in color, with damage to the rear portion of the vehicle above the tire on the driver side.

The Sheriff’s Department has reason to believe this could be the act of a sexual predator. SLED is assisting the agency with the investigation.
