One killed, two hurt as vehicles collide, then crash into houses

One person is dead and two others injured after a bizarre collision Aug. 3 in Darlington County sent a pickup truck and a sedan careening into parked cars and two houses. The S.C. Highway Patrol said the accident took place at High Hill Road and Rogers Road about 3:30 p.m. The patrol said a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Toyota sedan collided at the intersection. The pickup truck then rammed into a nearby house, the patrol said, while the sedan caromed off three other parked vehicles, and then hit another house. A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident. The sedan’s driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt and whose name had not been released, died in the crash. The driver and a passenger in the pickup were taken to an area hospital. The Highway Patrol was investigating.
