Michelle Wallace named Lamar Library Branch Manager

The Darlington County Library System bid farewell to Lamar Branch Manager Sherry Humphries on her retirement on August 19th. Ms. Humphries was the Branch Manager at the Library’s Lamar Branch for 16 years. She served during the construction of the new 4,200 square foot building in 2003 and the 2010 and 2015 additions.
The Library is happy to announce Lamar Branch Children’s Specialist Michelle Wallace has been named to the position of Branch Manager. Ms. Wallace assumed the position on August 22nd.
Ms. Wallace has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary education from Coker College. She formerly worked at the Thomas Hart Academy before joining the Library staff as a circulation clerk at the Society Hill Branch in December 2014. In June 2015, she was named Children’s Specialist at the Lamar Branch. She was in charge of all the Branch’s children’s programming.
Ms. Wallace said, “I am honored to be entrusted with the care of the Lamar Library. This is an incredible opportunity to serve the community of Lamar. I hope to bring innovative ideas and engaging programs for all ages to the library.”
