A Patrick man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to firing shots at a Hartsville police officer during a June 2019 chase.
Robert E. Hendricks, 44, pleaded guilty Feb. 15 to first-degree assault and battery and second-degree burglary, according a statement from 4th Circuit Solicitor Will Rogers.
The officer had responded to reports of a burglary at the Hartsville Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram dealership on East Bobo Newsome Highway, according to reports. The officer saw a suspect leaving the scene. A chase began, with the officer and the suspect shooting at each other, but neither was hit. The suspect ultimately was caught with the aid of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit.
Hendricks was sentenced to 15 years for burglary and a consecutive five years for assault and battery.
