Lynn chosen as new principal of Spaulding Elementary School

Experienced educator Jackee Lynn has been named principal of Spaulding Elementary School, officials with the Darlington County School District announced today. Lynn, a former teacher, and assistant principal, assumes the reins of the school from Lilkenya Jenkins who left to serve as principal of the school district’s elementary art magnet school, Thornwell School for the Arts.

“Mrs. Lynn has the experience, skills and knowledge necessary to be an exceptional principal, and I believe she will be a strong leader for Spaulding Elementary School,” said Dr. Eddie Ingram, superintendent. “I look forward to seeing Spaulding Elementary School continue to grow and prosper under her direction.”

Lynn proudly served 11 years in the United States Army. Once out of the service, she began her education career as a third grade teacher at Yellow Branch Elementary School in Campbell County School District in Rustburg, Virginia before moving to South Carolina to teach at Mauldin Elementary School (Greenville County School District). She joined the Darlington County School District as an elementary school teacher at Thornwell School for the Arts in 2002. Since then she has served as the Darlington County School District’s Coordinator of Teacher Recruitment and Retention, and as Hartsville Middle School’s Exceptional Education Facilitator. In 2009 she became one of Hartsville Middle School’s assistant principals.

Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Virginia Union University. She earned a Master of Arts in Economics from Virginia State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. She held National Board Certification and is certified as an ADEPT trainer, a SC mentor trainer and a TAP evaluator.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity. I have been fortunate to be assistant principal under Meredith Taylor at Hartsville Middle School for the past few years and I believe she set a good example and a high bar of excellence in school leadership,” said Lynn. “I’m looking forward to working with the staff, students, parents at Spaulding Elementary and the Lamar community as we continue the tradition of excellence for every child every day!”
