Log truck crash claims life of Darlington woman

A young woman was killed on Thursday, April 21 at the intersection of Pinedale Road and Billy Farrow Highway. According to reports from South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver disregarded a stop sign and the 2003 Chevy SUV was struck by an eastbound 2000 Peterbilt log truck.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the victim as Stephania Encalada, 19, of Darlington.
A passenger with Encalada was taken to a local hospital.
The operator of the log truck was not transported from the scene; no charges will be filed.
