Local kids brush Jeff Gordon’s teeth
More than 800 students at two Darlington elementary schools got a special surprise last Thursday when Jeff Gordon’s #24 3M Chevy SS show car roared onto campus, getting the kids all revved up about the Bojangles’ Southern 500 and excited about taking care of their teeth.
Early that morning, the program visited Pate Elementary, then moved over to Cain Elementary School where students participated in the Give Kids A Smile oral health education program. Host Wendy Venturini from the Performance Racing Network joined Darlington dentist and school board member Dr. Thelma Dawson to teach kids the importance of good dental health.
The students played games and won prizes, and got a chance to check out the #24 car. Also, every child went home with a prize pack containing an electric toothbrush that plays music while you brush, toothpaste, dental floss, and a mirror cling reminding them to brush twice a day for two minutes, floss daily, and make smart food choices.
