Lawson Grove Baptist Church, located at 3585 Lawson Grove Rd. in Hartsville, hosted its 18th Annual Senior Brunch on Saturday, December 13, bringing together members of the congregation to celebrate, honor, and uplift the church’s senior community.
The annual event is one of several special occasions the church holds throughout the year to recognize its senior members. In addition to anniversary celebrations, Lawson Grove Baptist Church hosts monthly gatherings known as “Senior On The Go,” which often include shared meals such as soups, salads, and desserts. These events are designed to foster fellowship, strengthen relationships, and acknowledge the invaluable contributions seniors continue to make to the church and the wider community.
The Senior Brunch provided an atmosphere of warmth and appreciation, with church leaders and members taking time to reflect on the legacy, faithfulness, and service of their senior congregants. Attendees enjoyed a meal together while reconnecting with friends and sharing memories, reinforcing the sense of family that has long defined the Lawson Grove Baptist Church congregation.
A highlight of the brunch was the special recognition of Mrs. Cora Lee Fox, who at 96 years old was honored as the Oldest Serving Member of Lawson Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Fox’s decades of dedication and unwavering commitment to her faith were celebrated by those in attendance.
Pastor Eric Cooper offered heartfelt remarks in recognition of Mrs. Fox, commending her faithful service to the Lord and her continued example of devotion, perseverance, and spiritual strength. His words underscored the important role senior members play in shaping the church’s foundation and inspiring future generations.
Church leaders emphasized that events like the Senior Brunch reflect Lawson Grove Baptist Church’s ongoing mission to care for its members at every stage of life. By creating opportunities for fellowship and recognition, the church continues to ensure that its seniors feel valued, supported, and deeply appreciated for their lifelong service and contributions.
