The Hannah-Pamplico Raiders visited the Lamar Silver Foxes for two varsity showdowns on Friday, January 27th. While the girls Silver Foxes pulled off a dominant win against the girls Raiders, the boy Silver Foxes went down after a fourth quarter run by the Raiders.

Girls Game:
The first half was mostly dominated by Lamar as they scored with jump shots and stopped Hannah-Pamplico with their halfcourt defense. The Raiders were sent to the charity stripe a ton in this half, but didn’t convert on as many free throws as they would’ve hoped for. Going into the second half with a score of 21-11, it looked as if Lamar’s dominant defense had slowed itself, though their offense continued to shine. Lamar’s senior guard Myasia Stephens led the way in this half, building up Lamar’s lead, even when Hannah-Pamplico shots began to fall. With Lamar never trailing in this game, they were able to beat Hannah-Pamplico 46-37.
Boys Game:
This game was close throughout, with the score being tied up going into the half at 25-25. Hannah Pamplico’s Tylin Jenkis got to the line a lot this game and finished this game with the most free throws attempted with 13, 10 of which he scored on. The game continued to be a back in fourth match in the third quarter until the last minute where a 3 gave Lamar the lead. The fourth was a different story though, with Hannah-Pamplico going on a 14-0 run which lasted a majority of the quarter. The Raider’s defense with blocks and turnovers allowed them to gain this huge lead and their offensive rebounding allowed for their misses to be converted into points. Lamar’s Delontae Martin ended the Silver Foxes scoring drought with a pair of made free throws and led the team in scoring with 23 points. Lamar’s inability to score in the fourth quarter led to Hannah-Pamplico dominating and ending the game in a 63-55 win over the Silver Foxes.
Lamar’s Coming Home Ceremony:
Lamar hosted their 2023 Coming Home ceremony during halftime of the boys game, where Larion Jackson and LaKayla Peoples won Coming Home king and queen respectively. The runner ups for Coming Home queen included Dynasia Saunders and Nysiah Carraway, congratulations to all!
