Several kids got a special reward last week for their participation in the Lamar Library’s Summer 2016 “Read to Ride” program. On July 26, representatives from Masonic Lodge #287 presented brand new bicycles to drawing winners who met the reading program’s requirements and submitted entry forms and essays for consideration.

Library manager Humphries says the summer reading program has become a big hit with local kids, and she hopes interest will continue to grow.

“We’ve had record participation this year and we’ve been very excited about all of the kids that have come. We really hope they continue with their reading, even though the summer reading program is officially over now. Keep reading and keep learning!” said Humphries, adding a big “thank you” to the Masons for their generosity and encouragement.

“We really appreciate the Masonic Lodge for making this donation. This is the second year they’ve done it. It’s a fantastic program and the kids really benefit from it,” said Humphries.
