Lady Silver Foxes win big over Lee Central
By Don Gearhart
Rebounding from a tough loss to Central, the Lady Silver Foxes made quick work of the Stallions from Lee Central. Isabella Hayes struck out the side against Lee Central although she did give up a lead-off hit-by-pitch and a walk. Lamar sent up fourteen batters to the plate in their half of the opening inning. Ansley Fishel struck out to start things off but got aboard when the third strike could not be handled. A wild pitch moved her all the way to third and she then scampered home with the first run as a result of a throwing error by the catcher. Jordyn Scarbrough walked, then stole two bases before scoring on a wild pitch. Kynley Fishel was hit by a pitch and moved around to third on a stolen base and wild pitch. She scored the third run when Hayes grounded to third and was safe on an error. Sadie McManus got Lamar’s first hit and RBI and she, too, moved all the way home on a trio of wild pitches. Taylor Guinn walked, stole a base, and scored on a wild pitch. Cheyanne Anderson walked and stole two bases to make it to third. Mia Braddock walked and stole second and both runners scored when Mallory Bullard’s grounder to second was misplayed. Like her teammates, wild pitches enabled her to score the ninth run of the inning with all batters having scored. Ansley Fishel and Scarbrough both got base hits ahead of Kynley Fishel’s base hit for two RBI. With an 11-0 lead, the Lamar coaches instructed baserunners to leave early after both Hayes and McManus got aboard via errors.
Hayes struck out the first two batters she faced in the top of the second inning. A. Jamirra got Lee Central’s only hit with a hard ground double over the third base bag. After hitting the next batter, Hayes recorded the third out with a strikeout. Guinn doubled to start the bottom of the second and scored on a couple of wild pitches. Anderson also doubled and scored via wild pitches. Braddock, Bullard, and Ansley Fishel all walked with Braddock crossing the plate on a wild pitch. Scarbrough was hit by a pitch. After Bullard scored on a wild pitch, Kynley Fishel hit a slow roller to third and beat the throw to first for an RBI hit. McManus drove in a run and eventually scored the eighth run of the inning on a wild pitch. Lamar chose to end the scoring by engineering two outs for runners leaving the base early.
On only the second ball put in play, Hayes retired the first batter in the top of the third on a slow grounder to first. She then struck out the next to batters to end the game with a 19-0 Lady Silver Foxes victory. Hayes struck out eight Lee Central batters in three innings. Anderson doubled twice for Lamar and both Kynley Fishel and McManus had two hits apiece.
