HHS Softball Team AAA State Champs
The Hartsville High School Softball Team arrived home to Hartsville to a heroes welcome as the Red Foxes brought home the AAA State Championship trophy on May 24, beating Union County 3-1 in the deciding game of their title series at Irmo High School.
The team ends this season with a record of 32-3.
This is the second state title for the high school softball team, who won in 2012.
“I am so very proud of all of the girls and coaches,” said Phyllis Griggs, HHS Athletics Director. “They worked extremely hard and persevered throughout the season to make this happen. I cannot say enough about the character of these young ladies. I am also so very proud of first year Head Coach Jamie Horton. As a first year coach, she went through the many difficulties that face a first year coach and never lost sight of the ultimate team goal…to win the AAA State Championship.
