Hartsville: There wasn’t much dancing in the Hartsville gym after the Red Foxes escaped with a 64-62 victory over arch rival Darlington. HHS owned the first half and sported margins of 18-9 and 31-21 at the end of the first two periods. Jamari Briggs was the catalyst, scoring 17 of his team’s leading scorer in the first half. A 7-0 run to start the second half put the Red Foxes up by 17 and they appeared headed for yet another 20-point margin of victory. But the Falcons clawed back with Qua’liek Lewis leading the way with 10 of his game high 28 points coming in the third period to cut the lead to 43-38. That slim margin slipped away when Chuck Keith beat the final buzzer with a driving layup to end regulation with a 58-58 deadlock. Darlington’s first and only lead came shortly after the overtime period commenced when Lewis hit a jumper from the key. A basket from Kameron Forman and two free throws from Briggs put Hartsville back in front before Lewis tied the game again at 62-62. With 16 tics left on the OT clock, Deandre Huggins rebounded his own missed shot and banked home the game winner. A last second 3-point attempt by the Falcons missed the mark. In addition to Lewis, Chuck Keith contributed 11 points for the Falcons. Forman supported Briggs in the scoring column for Hartsville with 15 points and Zykee Knox also was is double figures with 12. Hartsville raised their record to 13-5, 5-0 in Region 6-4A while the Falcons fell to 11-8, 1-4 in the region.

Hartsville: Jamari Briggs 22, Kameron Forman 15, Zykee Knox 12, Deandre Huggins 8, Tristan Lexander 7
