Hartsville man arrested for Child Sexual Exploitation

Leo Irvine.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced this week that Leo James Irvine, 27, of Hartsville has been arrested on multiple charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Irvine was taken into custody on Monday by investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a division of the Attorney General’s Office. He faces five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor for allegedly distributing child sexual abuse material.
According to authorities, the investigation began after receiving a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Secret Service assisted with the case.
Each of the felony charges carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment. Irvine is currently being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
