Hartsville City Council convened their regular meeting on October 13 and moved through several public hearings and final readings for city ordinances.
No. 4212 amends city codes for compliance with SC DHEC Industrial Pretreatment Program standards.
No. 4213 authorizes the sale of 2.88 acres at the northwest corner of South Fourth Street and Marquis Hwy to CareFirst Carolina Foundation for $100,000. The sale folds into CareSouth Carolina’s five-year plan to build a facility and expand capacity at their Hartsville site.
No. 4214 adopts the South Hartsville Heritage Alive neighborhood revitalization strategy, a comprehensive plan to improve quality of life and economic development for the South Hartsville community. This plan was approved by neighborhood residents during a July meeting at the Butler Heritage Foundation.
No. 4215 authorizes the city to lease office space at 106 East Carolina Ave. for three years at a rate of $1,450 per month to house the offices of Hartsville Tourism and Main Street, as well as a retail space selling city-related merchandise.
No. 4216 authorizes $70,000 for the purchase of land required as part of the conversion process for the Lee Street Ballfields and North Hartsville Athletic Fields. The land will be used to develop a dog park.
No one spoke at any of these public hearings, and council unanimously in favor of all ordinances.
First reading was approved for Ordinance 4219, extending for three months the lease of 149 West Carolina Ave. to Eunice Alexander for the purpose of clearing out all materials and property from the business.
Council also held first reading for Ordinance 4220, lowering the number of years of service required for council members to continue their health insurance under Hartsville’s municipal insurance program from 10 years to 8 years. The mayor and council members are responsible for 100-percent of dependent coverage.
