This week, Genesis Healthcare proudly gave a $45,000 donation to Harvest Hope Food Bank to provide critical food assistance to individuals and families impacted by the recent pause in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits as of November 1st.
This contribution reflects Genesis Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting the health and well-being of our patients and the communities they serve. With the temporary halt in SNAP benefits placing additional strain on already vulnerable families, Genesis Healthcare’s donation will help ensure that no one in our communities goes without access to nutritious food.
“At Genesis Healthcare, we believe good health begins with access to basic needs like food and shelter,” said Chief Medical Officers, Alex Cohen & Priscilla Welch. “The pause in SNAP benefits created an urgent challenge for many families, and we’re honored to partner with Harvest Hope Food Bank to fill that gap and support our patients and neighbors during this difficult time.”
Harvest Hope Food Bank will use the donation to expand its food distribution programs and provide emergency support to families throughout the region. The funds will help stock essential food items and ensure consistent access to meals for those most affected by the SNAP suspension.
“We are deeply grateful for Genesis Healthcare’s generosity,” said , Erinn Rowe Chief Executive Officer of Harvest Hope Food Bank. “Their support will help us meet the surge in demand and continue to fight hunger across South Carolina.”
Genesis Healthcare encourages other local organizations, businesses, and individuals to join in supporting community food programs to ensure that everyone has access to healthy, nourishing meals.
