Free Helmet Safety Day for kids
The Pilot Club of Darlington is sponsoring a Kids’ Free Helmet Safety Day program on March 9 at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 226 South Main St., Darlington. The bike helmets are for kids 1-6 years old.
Puppet shows are being held every half-hour between 9 a.m. and noon. Every child who attends one of the puppet shows gets a free bike helmet and a free safety coloring book as long as supplies last.
Helmet sizes are for kids 1-3 and 3-6 years old. Children who are older than 6 get a free safety bookmark.
Helmets are being given away in memory of the late Darlington Fire Chief Jim Stone, who worked with the city’s fire department 50 years.
