Florence-Darlington Technical College will celebrate the grand opening and dedication of its new Veterans and Career Services Center, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the main campus’ 100 Building, Room 106. November 11th is nationally celebrated as Veterans Day. FDTC President Dr. Ben Dillard recently created the Veterans and Career Services by combining the two separate departments together.

Services Director Max Welch, a retired Army Command Sergeant Major, said, “It’s very appropriate that we celebrate the opening of our new offices on Veterans Day, because we should honor the women and men who served every day.” Welch says the Veterans and Career Services department is “a one stop shop” for vets and FDTC students looking for a job.

The office offers counseling for former service members as well as assistance to FDTC students. The center hosts a lounge for veterans and students with Internet connected computers for job searching. The Veterans and Career Services also will hold a number of job fairs during each semester with preference given to vets.

The celebration will begin at noon with a luncheon for vets and college faculty and staff. The grand opening and dedication will be at 1 p.m. followed by an open house and drop in at 1:30. For more information about the Veterans and Career Services at FDTC, contact Director Max Welch at 843-661-8144.
