FEMA command center open daily in Darlington County

web Flooding fema story

Residents of Darlington County that have damage to their homes or businesses may receive assistance at the FEMA command center located at the Armory building on 1764 Harry Byrd Highway (US 151) each day from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

FEMA employees will be on hand to assist with FEMA applications daily.

To preregister, contact FEMA at: 800-621-3362 or complete online application at www.fema.gov/webform/disaster-assistance

According to Mike Wade with FEMA, residents may go to the center without an appointment.

“We would prefer that people preregister their claims by telephone or online, but if they are unable to do so, we have a phone bank set up to do that here,” said Wade. “Assistance will be given to everyone who sustained damage from the recent flooding, whether they were renting or were homeowners. We have people here assisting business owners from the Small Business Administration. This is a difficult time for everyone, and we find that it’s easier for some people to talk to someone in person rather than over the phone, so we plan to be open daily.”
