DDRA debuts new website

By Samantha Lyles, Staff Writer, slyles@newsandpress.net

Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association launched a new website on Tuesday, January 24, and this online portal will make it easier than ever for local businesses to establish a presence on the Internet.

“We wanted to put forth a professional presence for the DDRA as well as giving our members some added benefits,” says Lisa Chalian Rock, DDRA director and City of Darlington Planning and Economic Development director. “The new site has a map function where visitors can click on ‘Eat,’ ‘Play,’ ‘Shop,’ or ‘Stay,’ and the map will display, for example, all the different eateries in town, their hours and information.”

In addition, DDRA members can add a business splash page that includes news releases, sale dates and specials, employee recognitions and certifications, videos and unlimited photos, and links to their own web pages.

The site – www.BuildUpDarlington.org – offers visitors a stylish and easily navigable web venue featuring the latest news on the Darlington business community, city events, dining and shopping info, and available commercial properties. Visitors can also find photo libraries and information on DDRA events like the Taste of Darlington, Scare on the Square, #ShopSmall and #ShopDarlington, and the Market on The Square.

Chalian Rock says the new site aims to aggregate all this information in one spot, eliminating the need to hunt all over Facebook and Google to answer your Darlington business-related questions. She says DDRA wants to provide thorough and accurate info for all city businesses, and business owners can help by filling out a brief questionnaire containing all the pertinent data. Non-members can also add up to 10 high-resolution photographs to their business entry.

To stay up to date on all the latest local business news, the site offers an e-notification system, which will send you dispatches on your areas of interest, whether that’s ribbon cuttings and grand openings, or ticket availability for DDRA concerts and dining events.
