DCSO seeks abuser of Great Dane

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help with locating the owner of or any information relating to an injured dog found on April 4, 2016.

Deputies received an anonymous call about a dog walking around in the 900 block of Rogers Road in Darlington.

When deputies arrived, they found the black dog her mouth and head taped with duct tape. The deputies were able to catch the dog and safely remove the tape. The dog was taken to Darlington County Animal Shelter for care and treatment.

An outpouring of support has been shown to the Darlington County Humane Society, with hopes that not only the abuser be found, the public at large be aware of animal abuse and how to report it.

The dog is a pure bred Great Dane, and the Humane Society volunteers have renamed her “Aurora.” In addition to her taping around her eyes and muzzle, she was full of whip worms and hook worms, underweight, and tested positive for life threatening heart worms.
