DCSO Deputies host Coffee with a Cop

Deputies from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) traded their usual beats for coffee and conversation last week, meeting residents at three local coffee shops.
The tour began at Rise & Grind Coffee Café in Hartsville from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., then moved to Purple Fish Coffee Company in Darlington from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. It ended at Crema Coffee Bar and Catering in Hartsville from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The first 10 visitors at each stop received a free coffee, but the main goal was open dialogue, with residents encouraged to ask questions and discuss their neighborhoods.
The event reflects a growing emphasis on community-oriented policing, which builds trust through everyday, informal interactions rather than only in moments of crisis.
