DCSD School Board honors many students

The Darlington County School Board during its Feb. 14 meeting honored students for unusual achievements. They included:
— Three Hartsville High School students earned spots in the South Carolina All-State Chorus, sponsored by the S.C. Music Educators Association. These students are Eric Hughey, Liam Thompson, Matie Johnson.
— The Darlington County School District had two students this year who earned spots in the South Carolina Band Director Association (SCBDA) All-State Bands. Colby Channing Parrott, Hartsville High School, earned a spot in this year’s SCBDA Senior All-State Band. Sophia Andreski, Hartsville Middle School, earned a spot in this year’s SCBDA Junior All-State Band.
— Jonathan Jordan, a student at Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology, won first place in the state Woodworking Competition at the Beta Club competition. The National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit educational organization in the nation dedicated to promoting the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
— Reggie Cabbagestalk, an athlete at Hartsville High School, was chosen to participate in the 2021 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
— Sierra Gainey, a member of the Hartsville High School volleyball team, was selected to participate in the 2021 North-South All-Star Volleyball Game. The game is a program of the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports (SCCAWS).
— Kaitlin Nutt, a student at Hartsville High School, earned a spot on the 2021 S.C. Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association (SCTCCCA) All-State Cross-Country Team.
— Four players from Lamar High School were chosen for the South Carolina Football Coaches Association (SCFCA) Class A All-State Football Team: Jamieke Dukes, Patrick Anderson, Ethan Hunt, Gabriel McAllister.
