The Pilot Club of Darlington joins fellow Pilot Clubs across the globe in recognizing Brain Awareness Week, which is observed March 16–22. The international campaign highlights the importance of brain health, safety, and education for people of all ages.
Recently, Darlington Mayor Curtis Boyd met with members of the Pilot Club of Darlington to officially sign a proclamation recognizing the weeklong observance in the community. The proclamation underscores the city’s support for efforts to raise awareness about brain health and injury prevention.
As part of the initiative, the Pilot Club will present Pilot International’s signature program, “BrainMinders: Protecting Your Brain for Life”, to local children. The program is designed to teach young students about protecting their brains and making safe choices through engaging and interactive presentations.
Members of the club will present the popular BrainMinders puppet show at two local early childhood education centers. The first presentation will be held on March 17 at Mildred G. Burno Head Start Center, 223 Law Plantation Rd., in Darlington. This will be followed by a second presentation on March 18 at Butler Head Start Center, 1103 S. 6th St., Unit C, in Hartsville.
Through these presentations and the city’s proclamation, the Pilot Club hopes to increase awareness about the importance of brain health while teaching children simple steps they can take to protect themselves throughout their lives.
The Pilot Club of Darlington is part of a worldwide network of volunteers dedicated to promoting brain safety, supporting those affected by brain-related disorders, and serving communities through education and outreach programs.
