Darlington home destroyed by fire

An Oct. 28 fire destroyed a home on Pocket Road in Darlington County, but the resident escaped without injuries, officials said. The fire was reported about 5:15 a.m., and firefighters arrived to find the home about 75 percent engulfed. The resident of the home told officials the blaze started in the bedroom. Officials said the house, which did not have working smoke detectors, was a total loss.
