Darlington County Sheriff’s deputy involved in accident

On Oct. 11, a Darlington County sheriff’s deputy was traveling on Timmonsville Highway toward I-20 from Darlington when his vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer, officials said. An 18-wheeler, traveling in the same direction, crossed the double yellow center line, striking the side of the patrol vehicle. The deputy, who was not identified, was transported to an area hospital and was “expected to be OK.” The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
