Darlington City Councilmember Shelia Baccus hosted her 2nd Annual Christmas Fun Day in conjunction with the Pee Dee United Elks Lodge #1679 on Saturday, December 20, bringing holiday cheer and much-needed support to local families.
The event was held at the Elks Lodge, located at 836 Timmonsville Highway in Darlington, and drew a large crowd of residents from across the community. With the help of dedicated volunteers, Ms. Baccus ensured the event ran smoothly as families lined up to receive an abundance of much-needed items.
A huge amount of toys, food, clothing, and other essential items were given away throughout the day. Children and young adults were delighted to receive toys and warm clothing, while families benefited from food bags and household items aimed at easing the financial strain many experience during the holiday season.
Volunteers also prepared and served delicious hot food, adding to the festive and welcoming atmosphere. Smiles, laughter, and gratitude filled the room as families enjoyed a hot meal and the generosity of the community.
“In times like these, it helps to ease the burden on so many families who are hit hard during the holidays,” Ms. Baccus shared, emphasizing the importance of community support.
Ms. Baccus expressed appreciation to everyone who helped make the day a success, noting that the annual event is one of many ways to give back to the Darlington community.
