Chicken Little at the library: A performance to make the sky fall

From Staff Reports

As part of the Darlington County Library’s Summer Reading & Learning Program, the traveling troupe Porkchop Productions brought its version of the Chicken Little story to local children last week.

On June 18, the play was presented at the libraries in Darlington, Lamar and Society Hill; on June 19, the players performed at the Hartsville library. (All photos on this page were taken at the Darlington library’s performance.)

The library system’s Summer Reading & Learning Program began June 1 and continues through July 31.

Children, teens and adults can register to join the fun by visiting any location of the library or by going to its webpage. Choose your age group, “Listeners” (up to 4 years old), “Children” (5-12), “Teens” (13-17), or “Adults” (18 and older).

If you register online, you will find the Summer Reading & Learning Program’s guidelines, a schedule of special summer events and a prize list. This year all you need to do is record the time you read to earn prizes and become eligible for the grand prize at the location you registered for the program, a telescope.

The county library system’s locations are:
Darlington, 204 North Main St., (843) 398-4940
Hartsville, 147 West College Avenue, (843) 332-5115
