Individual Arrested after Search Warrant
On October 1, 2026, the Darlington County Combined Drug Unit and the Special Incident Response Team (SIRT), which is combined of Darlington County Deputies, Darlington City Officers, and Hartsville City Officers, executed a lawful search warrant of a residence on the 1800 block of Blanding Driving in the Hartsville area of Darlington County.

Into the Lebanon Silver Mine
8-22-2026—a day for numbers, a day to visit the Old West. From Denver’s mile-high air we took I-70 45 miles west to an elevation of 8,772 feet to board an 1884 steam train. We rode that corkscrewing train 406 feet up Republican Mountain over 3 miles of 3-foot-gauge track, crossing Devil’s Gate High Bridge 95 feet over Clear Creek along the way. At 9,178 feet we detrained to walk 600 feet into the Lebanon Silver Mine. In the dark, wet tunnel we stood beneath I-70 which runs to Utah 227 miles distant.
School District celebrates record wave of Academic Excellence
Dozens of Darlington County School District students were recognized for perfect scores on state assessments at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. Board members also honored the district’s top attendance schools and one of their own for advocacy on behalf of adult learners.
