History will be made in Darlington Saturday, Aug. 17, at Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School’s Sonoco Gymnasium. Intern learns what makes a city run
Before heading off to study political science at Clemson University in the fall, 18-year-old Will Johnson decided to get some first-hand, real-world experience. Since he aims to run for political office someday, Johnson felt that learning what it takes to keep the gears turning in day to day city operations would help him become a more effective and informed public servant.
Motor Maids ride to help Lamar schools
On July 20, the South Carolina Motor Maids motorcycle group, under the leadership of Krissa Drentlaw of Summerville, hosted a fund-raising ride for Lamar area schools. The route ended at Cartersville Winery in Timmonsville. The Lamar Fire Department escorted the riders through town.
