Carolina Family Planning Centers celebrate 6th Annual Banquet

People from across the Pee Dee and state gathered on Tuesday, September 29 to celebrate life, talk about the exciting, memorable, life changing moments, upcoming opportunities, and to recognize those who help support the pro-life ministry of Carolina Family Planning Centers at the Carolina Family Planning Centers’ 6th Annual Banquet.

Chairman Mr. Steece Hayes welcomed attendees to the banquet, and music was provided by Mr. Paul McRae.

Tammy Robinson, Director of Carolina Family Planning Centers, bestowed CFPC’s 2015 Volunteer awards to two very dedicated, devoted, and deserving volunteers: Ms. Sharon Shoffner received the Volunteer of the Year award, and Ms. Grace Berdeau received the honor of CFPC’s 2015 Teen Volunteer of the Year award.

“Both these ladies do so much for the center,” says CFPC Director Tammy Robinson. “Without their behind-the-scenes efforts, the center just wouldn’t be the same.”

Attendees also heard first hand from those who have received services from CFPC and how this ministry has not only had a positive outcome in the life of their babies, but expressed the far reaching impact of this ministry and the effect felt in not only their own families, but beyond. They listened to moving testimonies of adoption from an adoptive mother and a mother who lovingly chose adoption for her unborn instead of abortion. Mr. Gary Freeman, Fatherhood Coordinator/Community Liaison of Gateway Mission located in Raleigh, NC, shared his presentation to “The Importance of Fatherhood” and discussed how fathers have a substantial and often overlooked impression in the decision of abortion vs. life. Mr. Freeman also addressed both the shortage of, and importance and added value of male mentors in this pro-life ministry.

CFPC supporters also heard from volunteers and were given a peek into their unique perspective, what goes on “behind the scenes,” and the often unseen impact that this ministry has on its volunteers.

Pastor Kyle Meyer of Great Commission Ministries, located in Darlington, SC, spoke on the topic of local missions. Hearts were moved and eyes were opened as he communicated the emphasis that, while foreign missions are of great importance, we often fail to see the needs right in front of us, in our own community. He challenged our community to come alongside and support the efforts of Carolina Family Planning Centers in our own hometown mission field.

The celebration of life ended with a live and a silent auction of items generously donated by area businesses, individuals, local community groups, and other supporters of CFPC. Carolina Family Planning Center’s annual banquet is the biggest fundraiser of the year, and helps provide half of their yearly funding.
