Bridge replacement on Society Hill Road in Darlington County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge on Society Hill Road (S-16-133) over Black Creek in Darlington County.

SCDOT Maintenance Forces rated the bridge as structurally deficient and will be replaced by United Infrastructure Group, Inc. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin on July 6, 2015. Barring any unforeseen delays, the bridge should be reopened to traffic by Dec. 11, 2015.

The proposed detour route will use Cashua Ferry Road (SC34) and North Springville Road (S-16-228). The detour is 3.6 miles long and is expected to at add approximately 10 minutes to normal travel time.
