Bring the kids to Market on Darlington Square for a fun art contest on Saturday, September 5.
During the Market from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., there will be a free kids’ sidewalk chalk art contest. Children can participate as individuals or in groups, and the chalk will be provided. Categories are ages 12 and younger and ages 13-18. The theme for this year’s contest is MUSIC. Winners will be announced at 12:45 p.m. and will receive a cash prize.
The Market also features vendors selling arts & crafts, produce, plants, and music by Southern Redeemed.

In October, the Showdown at the Square Chili Cook-Off returns to wrap up the Market season. Churches, businesses, civic clubs, or individuals can compete for cash and prizes.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Public Square on Main Street in Darlington on the FIRST Saturday of the month, May through October with no event in July due to the holiday. The open-air monthly market is a partnership between Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association, the City of Darlington, and a dedicated group of volunteers that began in 2011.

Vendor spaces are $25 for businesses and individuals with discounts for season passes and non-profit organizations. Booth spaces are free for children and those selling produce or other farm products. Register for a spot by calling 843-398-4000 x 103 or 843-992-1561 or email darlingtonplanner@gmail.com. Find them on Facebook page at DarlingtonMarket.
