Anchor Club district convention held

Anchor Club members from across the state gathered in Darlington Feb. 16 for their S.C. District Convention.

Close to 100 Anchor and Pilot Club members attended the convention at the Music Hall hosted by the Darlington Anchor Club.

The keynote speaker was Glenda Skipper, who spoke about human trafficking, including ways to prevent becoming a victim.

The annual Anchor Club Convention chooses a community service project to support, and this year’s project was donating items to the Darlington County Humane Society. Not only did convention participants bring supplies but they also made dog and cat toys. Barbara and Chesley Benjamin were on hand to accept the truckload of donations for the Humane Society.

Darlington’s Anchor Club is a community service organization of high school students whose local chapter has 46 members.
