Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Training

Darlington County First Steps “Parents Are First” program and the Children’s Trust of South Carolina are hosting an Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Training at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (in the Education Classroom) on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are currently in the forefront of much of the work being done with children, adolescents and young people today. ACEs are traumatic event that occur in a child’s life and include such events as abuse, neglect, household dysfunction, bullying, discrimination, homelessness, to name a few. Research clearly shows a link between childhood trauma and negative health and social outcomes later in life. Furthermore, the risk of negative outcomes directly correlates with the number of ACEs a person experiences in early life.

The one-day training will be free of charge and lunch with be provided on-site. Registration is limited to 40 people. Please RSVP by Monday, January 18th to: Brenda Ayers at: bayers@scfirststeps.org or Ashley Holman at aholman@scfirststeps.org
