9/11 Remembrance Ceremony planned
The Darlington American Legion Post 13, in conjunction with The Woodmen of The World, will hold a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at the entrance to Grove Hill Cemetery in Darlington.
The ceremony will include a re-dedication of a new flagpole and United States flag supplied by the Woodmen of the World.
During last year’s 9/11 rememberance ceremony, the Woodman of the World provided the American Legion Post 13 with a flag pole and United States flag, based at the front of the Post on Highway 151/Harry Byrd Highway.
The Darlington American Legion Post 13 meets each the second Thursday of each month at the Post on Harry Byrd Highway next to the South Carolina National Guard Armory. A meal is served at 6:00 p.m. with a monthly meeting that follows.
The nation’s largest Veterans organization invites its members, eligible Veterans, and active National Guard/Reserve personnel to attend.
Members of the Post 13 were instrumental in the Darlington Veterans Memorial Park located in the center of Darlington, on the Public Squre on the corner of Main and Orange Streets.
