Collections of history joined: Old Darlington District Chapter, SCGS Hartsville Genealogical Research Library moves to the Darlington County Historical Commission
Historians and individuals tracing their family genealogy will now have one location in Darlington County to do their research, as the collection of the Old Darlington District Chapter (ODCC) of the South Carolina Genealogical Society is currently moving their extensive genealogical research library contents to the Darlington County Historical Commission.
Hartsville Depot readies for new owners
The Old Darlington District Chapter (ODCC) of the South Carolina Genealogical Society had rented the old Hartsville Depot on 4th Street near Downtown Hartsville for nearly twenty years; the beautiful historic building, located at 114 South Fourth Street, was constructed in 1908 by Atlantic Coastline Railroad Company.

By now we’ve all noticed that the Sun is rising a little later and setting a few minutes earlier. Fall, with its cooler weather, is only three weeks away. Since the nights won’t be as hot or humid, it’s more fun to get outside and do some stargazing.
2nd Annual Back to School Giveaway a success
The Go Get It Films of Darlington and Ladies Divine to Shine of Florence hosted their 2nd Annual Back to School Giveaway on August 13 at the CRC Center on Pearl Street. Founder Rashad Bonaparte of Darlington began the event to help needy children with school supplies.
