Jamarius Kei’Shawn Bruce

Funeral services for Mr. Jamarius Kei’Shawn Bruce of Orangeburg, S.C. formerly of Darlington was held at 1:00 o’clock Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington.

Interment followed in Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartsville, directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. of Darlington.

Mr. Bruce was born September 9, 1997 to Tony & Joye Murray Bruce. He died on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Richland Memorial Hospital.

He received his formal education in the Darlington County Schools and was a 2016 graduate of Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology. Jamarius also received a welding certificate at Darlington County Institute of Technology. After graduating from high school, Jamarius attended Claflin University in Orangeburg S.C., majoring in Sports Medicine.

Survivors are his loving parents, Tony and Joye Murray Bruce; brothers, Rakeem Bruce, Quentin Bruce, and Sai’Ton Kirk; grandparents Marion Bruce Jr. and Mamie Bruce, and Hattie Mae Murray and the late Nathaniel “Buddy” Murray; two uncles, Karl Bruce and Calvin “Sharp” Bruce; four aunts, Councilwoman Carolyn Bruce, Theresa (Tyrone) Samuel, Marsha Bruce and D’Meashia “Shauna” Flynn; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

The family is receiving friends at the residence of his parents, 313 Log Jam Drive (Pepper Ridge), in Darlington.

Bryan Dove

Mr. Lee Bryan Dove, 68, of Easley, loving husband of Susan W. Dove, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Bryan was born in Dillon County, S.C. on October 29, 1947 to the late Leo Elliott and Dorothy Hubbard Dove. He loved his family, had a huge heart, was a friend to everyone, and he never met a stranger. His life will truly be remembered by the words of Jesus in John 11:4; “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”

Bryan was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley and was a great witness and leader for Christ. He taught Sunday School, was involved in the Men’s prayer group, the cancer group, was a deacon, and he was over the prayer room.

In addition to his loving wife, Bryan is survived by four sons: Jason Dove (Christie) of Anderson, Jarrett Dove (Cindy) of Pendleton, Robert Dove (Myra) of Maryland, and Bradley Dove of Easley; and a daughter; Janet Taylor (Rick) of Belton. Bryan is also survived by two brothers; Larry Dove (Gaby), and David Dove (Sindy) of Darlington, S.C.; a sister; Diane Lee (Dexter) of Florence; and nine grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Carroll and Mary Ann Dove.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, with the Rev. Dr. David Gallamore and the Rev. Richard Littleton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, S.C. 29642.

The family is at the residence. Flowers are optional, or the family requests that memorial donations be made to either the Rock Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, S.C. 29642; or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

Irene Weatherford

Irene Weatherford, 84, of Darlington died on Sunday, October 16, 2016.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. The family received friends at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the church.

Irene was born in Darlington, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Walter D. Weatherford, Sr. and Estelle Bailey Weatherford. Irene was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Darlington, and retired from Young’s Pecan Company in Florence.

Surviving are her brothers, Walter (Carolyn) Weatherford of Darlington, and Woody (Sharon) Weatherford of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents listed above; her brother, James E. Weatherford; and her sisters, Maybelle Meads and Ruth Ellen Weatherford.

Jerry M. Waddell

Gerald “Jerry” M. Waddell, Jr., age 63 passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016. A memorial service was held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23rd in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. The family received friends following the service and other times at 114 Medford Dr. Darlington, S.C. 29532.

Born February 19, 1953; Jerry was the son of Sylvia Knight Bryan and the late Gerald M. Waddell, Sr. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School in 1971 and worked for DuPont for 40 years. Jerry’s passion was fishing, model railroads and trains. He doted over his granddaughter Madison, whom he affectionately called Maddie, and loved his canine companion Maggie.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Sylvia Knight (Bill) Bryan of Murrells Inlet, are his wife, Tara Stokes Waddell; his daughter, Ashley M. (Neil) Hopwood; his grandchildren, Madison Hopwood and Thomas Hopwood; his brother, Don (Tonia) Waddell of Darlington; his sister, Kathy (Teddy) Evans of Florence; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Waddell Boley.

Pete Dover

Vann “Pete” Patrick Dover, age 64, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 24th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, followed by burial at Grove Hill Cemetery.

Born April 22, 1952 in Charlotte, N.C., Pete was the son of Gail Cooper Johnson and the late Vann Patrick Dover, Sr.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Gail Cooper Johnson, are his wife of 44 years, Denise Lundy Dover; his daughter, DeAnna Dover (Kenneth) Smith; his grandchild, Patrick Causby; and his step-grandchild, Dylan Smith. He is also survived by his siblings, Lori Dover (Billy) Crittenden, Steve (Susan) Johnson, Christal (Cody) Cook, Mark (Brenda) Johnson, Sherri J. Robinson, Lisa J. (Chris) Wisner, Paul (Nelda) Johnson, and Rachel (Dale) Ormond.

He was preceded in death by his father Vann Patrick Dover, Sr. and step-father, Ansel Jennings Johnson.

The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23rd at Belk Funeral Home; and other times at 630 Arbor Dr. Florence, S.C. 29501.
