Joanna E. Psillos

Joanna Ethel Psillos, age 80, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016. Funeral services were held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, followed by burial in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born on December 18, 1935 in Walterboro, S.C., Ms. Psillos was the daughter of the late John I. Psillos and Ellen J. Psillos. Joanna was a very family oriented woman whose life revolved around her family. She was often found running errands for her mother and siblings, as well as taking care of her many cats. She also lovingly worked as a Secretary and Teaching Assistant for many years at Pate Elementary School. Ms. Psillos was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, and aunt.

Surviving are her sisters, Elizabeth, Lucille, and Mary Psillos of Charleston; her nephew, John Psillos of Charleston, and her nieces, Vicki Watson of Savannah, and Sandra Psillos of Athens, GA; and many extended family members. In addition to her parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her two brothers, James Psillos & Sanford Psillos.

The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Belk Funeral Home.

Sheila Arnold Sims

Sheila Arnold Sims, age 76, passed away Wednesday, October 05, 2016. A memorial service and visitation was held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5th in the home of Russ Sims, 4136 W. Palmetto St. Florence, S.C. 29501.

Born March 16, 1940, Sheila was the daughter of the late Carlton E. Arnold and Carey Thomas Arnold. She loved flowers, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Sheila was a member of Indian Branch United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her children, Russ (Janet) Sims of Florence, Rhonda (Ed) Edgerton of Darlington, and Shane Sims of Florida; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Nancy Stewart and Gail Arnold, both of Darlington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Weasel” Sims; and her sisters, JoAnn Young and Kay Haynie.
