Frances Wallace Howle, age 82 passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 after a lengthy illness at McLeod Hospice House. Funeral
services were held 2:00 p.m. Wed-nesday, November 23rd at Black Creek Baptist Church directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born April 11, 1934, Frances was the daughter of the late John L. and Mae Lassiter Wallace. She worked as an assistant for Dr. Matthews and Dr. Hobbs. She then worked at NUCOR for 10 years, and then she owned a freight brokerage company for 35 years. Frances enjoyed reading and watching the soap operas, or the “stories” as she called them. She was also a great cook and enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners and traveling with her family.
Surviving are her daughter Michelle “Charlye” (Bill) Wood of Florence; her grandchildren, Frankie White, Jr. of Darlington, Brandy (Donald “Bubba”) Brown, Jr. of Clover, William “Billy” Wood, Michelle Frances Wood, and Dustin Wood, all of Florence; her 11 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Evelyn Freeman who was like a sister to Frances; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death are her husband, Jack Howle; her daughter, Jackquelyn H. White; her brother John L. “Buck” Wallace; and her half-brothers, Glenn Byrd and Willie Gandy.
The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22nd at Belk Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine J. Bowman of Darlington were held 3:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington.
Interment will follow in Willds Quarters Cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. of Darlington.



Mrs. Bowman was born in Darlington County June 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Samuel and Ritter Jackson. She departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016.
She was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, and was married to the late Ernest Jeffery and the late Albert Bowman.
She was a dedicated member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church serving in many capacities over the years.
She was an active member of O.E.S. #88.
Survivors are: her daughter, Ernestine J. Frazier; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Linda Jeffery; a special niece, Virginia Coker; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Order of Eastern Star #88 performed rites in the funeral home chapel, and the family is receiving friends other times at the residence of her daughter, 415 North Main Street, Apartment 5-B, Darlington.
Rosa Douglas Hudson, resident of Darlington S.C., went home to be with the Lord at her residence on November 23, 2016. A funeral service was held at Black Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, November 26th at 2:00 p.m., with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



Born in Darlington on September 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lorena Josey Douglas and Joe D. Douglas. Rosa graduated from Florence Darlington Technical College with a degree in Accounting. Mrs. Hudson served multiple terms and was currently employed as the Darlington County Auditor. She was also a member of the Darlington Professional Women, Darlington Pilot Club, and S.C.A.T. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Clerk and was active in the Lucy Smith Circle. She will be remembered for having a green thumb, and as a lady who loved her roses and animals.
She is survived by her spouse of 66 years, Jacob K. “Buddy” Hudson, Sr. Darlington, S.C., and her children: Cynthia Hudson Knight (Rev. Roger D. Knight, deceased), of Darlington, S.C., Ken Hudson (Pattie P. Hudson), of Darlington, S.C., Dianne Hudson Hart (Frank M. Hart) of Conway, S.C., and Michelle Hudson Reynolds (Wayne L. Reynolds) of Darlington, S.C.; her grandchildren: Angela R. Knight, of Darlington, S.C., Dale Knight (Dina M Knight) of Columbia, S.C., Jacob Hudson III (MJ G. Hudson) of Darlington, S.C., and Jonathan Hudson (Linda Hudson) of Darlington, S.C.
The family expresses their thanks to Darlington County Treasurer, Belinda Copeland, and to Morrell Rehab for their care and love.

Bernice Nolan, 73, of Darlington died on Friday, November 25, 2016.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Midway Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.
Bernice was born in Hartsville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late JT Gainey and Era Mae Kelly Gainey. Bernice was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Darlington and will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Dave Nolan of Darlington; her son, Lawrence Lucas “Lance” Larymore, Jr. of Darlington; her brothers, Terry (Samantha) Gainey and Stanley (Cindy) Gainey all of Darlington; her sisters, Sara (Raymond) Warren and Doris Windham all of Darlington; her five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; and her step daughter, Amy Nolan of Dallas, Texas.
Bernice was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Perkins and by her brother-in-law, Rev. Ted Windham and by her brother Wayne Gainey.

Sammie Joe Plummer, age 73 passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016. Visitation was held by the family from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lydia, SC on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at the church cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born January 23, 1943, Joe was the son of Sammie Louise Morrell Plummer and the late Woodrow Wilson “Dillie” Plummer. He retired from Sonoco Products Company after 41 years. Joe was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Sammie Louise Morrell Plummer are his wife, Amy P. Plummer; his daughter, Wendy (Jim) Elliott, all of Hartsville; his grandchildren, Joe Fisher Payne, Parker Payne, Abigail Payne, Terre (Robbie) Strickland, and Amber Saleeby. Also surviving are his siblings, George “Robin” (Patsy) Plummer of Timmonsville, Charlie T. (Linda) Plummer of Gastonia, N.C., Linda (Bob) Stone of Vero Beach, FL, Polly (Danny) Mercer of Lamar, and Bill (Sylvia) Plummer of Hartsville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Plummer; and his daughter, Tammie Plummer Saleeby.

Elizabeth K. Gregory, 84, of Darlington died on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 565 Mineral Springs Road, Darlington.
Mrs. Gregory was born in Turberville, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Theodore “Son” Kelly and Isabelle Holliday Kelly. Mrs. Gregory was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Darlington and she retired from James Rivers after 38 years.
Surviving are her son, Ken Weatherford and wife, Karen of Darlington; her grandchildren, Kelly Lloyd and husband, Dick of Hartsville, and Stacy Gandy and husband, Kirk of Society Hill; her great grandchildren, Paisley Lloyd of Hartsville and Josh Gandy of Society Hill; her brother, Pete Kelly and wife, Joann of Columbia; her sister, Elise Lyon and husband, Ches of Lake City; her sisters-in-law, Ruby Kelly of Lake City and Carolyn Kelley of Lake City; her brothers-in-law, Woody Weatherford and wife, Sharon of Florence, and Walter Weatherford and wife, Carolyn of Darlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gregory was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Weatherford; her second husband, William Gregory; her son, Wayne E. Weatherford; her daughter, Frances E. Weatherford; her brothers, William Kelly and Joseph Kelly; her sisters, Arcola Dennis and Julia Weber; and her grandson, Jamie E. Weatherford; and her step mother, Essie K. Teal.

Hazel Faye Simpson, age 72, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016. A memorial service was held in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016. The family received friends immediately following the service.
Born March 4, 1944 in Florence, she was the daughter of the late William Ellison Simpson and the late Hazel Tyner Simpson. Faye was a graduate of St. Johns High School in Darlington and then graduated from Spartanburg School of Nursing. A longtime resident of Conway, S.C., she worked as a RN at Conway Hospital for 35 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Temple Lundy (Shane) Hancock of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Evelyn Faye Hancock and Ellanor Marie Hancock; a sister, Terry Chapman of Society Hill; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Simpson; a cousin who was like a sister, Lynn Bryant; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother William E. Simpson, Jr.
