Myra Emily Wilkinson Gray

Myra Emily Wilkinson Gray, widow of Wilda Jenkins Gray, age 95 passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25th at Trinity United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Great Salkehatchie Cemetery in Ulmer, S.C., directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born April 15, 1920 in Ulmer, S.C., Myra was the daughter of the late Iris Cope Wilkinson and John G. Wilkinson. She was a graduate of Allendale High School and Limestone College. Myra was a teacher in both Horry and Darlington Counties. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in the UMW, the Anne Herbert Circle, and was former president of the Winston J. Rogers Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Azalea Garden Club, Golden Age Club, and Saints Alive.

Surviving are her sons, Wilda J. Gray, Jr. (Shirley) of Timmonsville and Duane W. Gray (Claudia) of Florence; her grandsons, Kevin Gray (Jody) of Aynor, Bradley Gray (Renee) of Gallivants Ferry, and Quinton Gray (Peden Gardner) of Charlotte; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Makala, Drake, and Abby; and her former daughter-in-law, Larue Shufford.

She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Emory Gray, in 1978; and her grandson, Michael Kirk Gray in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John G. Wilkinson, Jr,, and Charles Manley Wilkinson; her sister, Lina W. Dubose; and her sisters-in-law, Frances Wilkinson and Barbara Sue Wilkinson.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of the Carolinian for their kindness and years of care. The family would also like to thank the entire ICU staff of McLeod Hospital.

The family received friends from 5-7pm Thursday, March 24th at Belk Funeral Home.

Willie Shaw

Funeral services for Mr. Willie M. “Butchie” Shaw, III of Darlington were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Wilson High School Auditorium in Florence.

Entombment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. of Darlington.

Mr. Shaw was born on July 20, 1958, to the late Willie Boyden & (Annie Brown) Shaw, Jr. in Queens, New York. He worked thirty-six years in numerous educational capacities during his life, and was a member of numerous organizations in his church and community.

Mr. Shaw attended the public schools of Darlington County and graduated from Mayo High School in 1976. He graduated with Honors from Coker College, Hartsville, S.C. in 1980 and continued increasing his knowledge up until his passing.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Bertha, and their sons Quentin and Calvin; his devoted brother George Edward (Joyce) Franklin; his devoted sisters, Marlena Shaw Wright and Dr. Hilton Shaw (Frank) Gilbert; his nephews, Brian Christopher Franklin and Frank Shaw Gilbert III; nieces, Kymbrelli Annette (Anthony) Coker, Joy Franklin (Gene) Champion, Hilton EllAnne Gilbert, Sonja Coffin, and Nikee Coffin; surrogate mother, Mrs. Ella Lois Gilbert; special cousins, John and Dorothy Harris & family; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and loving friends.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1305 Gus Drive, Darlington.
