Kenneth Lavan Amerson, age 66, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at the McLeod Hospice House. A funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28 at Christian Pathway Church in Lamar, followed by burial in Lamar Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday evening at Belk Funeral Home, Lamar Chapel.

Born on July 12, 1950, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Marie Windham Amerson. Mr. Amerson was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a family man who loved the Lord, and served as a deacon at church for twenty-five years. He was a true friend who was loved by all who knew him. Kenneth was a member of Christian Pathway Church
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dianne Watford Amerson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Ray Smith and Julie and Ryan Parnell; grandchildren: Dillon Parnell, Bryce Parnell, Tyler Smith, Lauren Smith; a great-grand-child, Dawson Parnell; two nieces whom he thought of as daughters, Brenda Parnell and Wendy Windham; brothers: William (Nellie) Amerson, Tommy (Leona) Amerson, Albert (Monica) Amerson, and Billy Ray (Paula) Amerson; and sisters, Mary Amerson, Gwen Carraway and Carolyn (Jackie) Calcut; and special friends, Alan and Kathy Poole.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Amerson.
The family would like to thank Hospice for their care of Kenneth. We are so thankful for the prayers, food, friendship and love that have been shown during this grievous time.
Kenneth’s favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 15:1 “A soft answer turneth away wrath; but grievous words stir up anger.”
His favorite saying was “keep the peace”.
He leaves behind a legacy of Christian family values; and a host of family and friends.

Cecil “Bud” Amerson, Jr., age 72 of Murrells Inlet passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016. A funeral service was held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28th at Spring Branch Baptist Church in Hartsville with burial following at Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born September 13, 1943, Mr. Amerson was the son of the late Cecil Amerson, Sr and Mattie Munn Amerson. He retired from Sonoco after 43 years in the spiral department. When he wasn’t working, Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his yard and gardens, and he enjoyed being around his horses. Bud was a member of the Sonoco Old Timer’s Club, the Field Bridge Hunting Club, and he was a member of Spring Brach Baptist Church in Hartsville.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Margaret Nichols Amerson; his daughter, Lisa (John) Howard of Hartsville, S.C.; his son, Lee (Pam) Amerson of McBee, S.C.; his step-children, Terrie (Frank) Neal and Eric (Tara) Thompson, both of Sopchoppy, FL; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Grace Singletary of Timmonsville, S.C.
Preceded in death in addition to his parents are his four sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Saturday, August 27th at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington.
