Two dead, one injured in early morning shooting
On June 26, 2017 at approximately 1245 a.m. officers of the Darlington Police Department were called to the area of Southern Pines and Kirven Street in reference to multiple shots being fired. Upon our arrival at that the location, they found a wrecked vehicle occupied by individuals who had been shot.
One of the victims died immediately, the other victim later passed away at the hospital. The third victim has serious injuries. The Darlington Police Department is being assisted by SLED crime scene units, resident SLED agents and the Darlington County Coroner’s office. DPD will continue to process evidence collected from the scene and canvas the area for any witnesses who might have seen or heard anything of value in reference to this case.
At this point there does not appear to be a clear motive for the shooting. Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee identified the victims as Randolph Malika McClain, age 21, and Ahmond Britton, age 24. Every effort is being made to bring this matter to a close quickly.
