Southern rock royalty coming to the FMU PAC
The heirs of some of the most famous royalty in all of Southern rock are coming to the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center this fall.
Devon Allman and Duane Betts, the sons of Allman Brothers band leaders Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts, will bring the Allman Betts Band (ABB) to the PAC’s mainstage in downtown Florence on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Allman and Betts are veteran performers with many successes to their credit. They formed the Allman Betts Band in 2018.
ABB’s debut album, “Down to The River,” was released earlier this year to widespread critical acclaim.
It highlighted the band’s ability to tap into the magic of their rock and roll ancestors with swelteringly smooth solos, molasses-dripped slide guitars, vocals and an unmistakable Southern twang that comes through in each note.
The album was recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios and produced by Matt Ross Spang, known for his work with Jason Isbell, Margo Price, John Prine and Elvis Presley.
The band is now in the midst of a massive worldwide tour that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Allman Brothers as well as their own debut.
The tour has included stops in Europe and in renowned venues like New York Bowl.
ABB’s Florence showcase will include the band’s latest hits as well as famous tunes from the original Allman Brothers.
The Allman Brothers are a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and were ranked amongst Rolling Stone magazine’s “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”
The Allman Brothers’ hits include “Whipping Post,” “Melissa” and of course the iconic “Ramblin’ Man.”
