SLED arrests SCDMV employee for Embezzlement of Public Funds
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested 33-year-old Jamesica Edwina Alford on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, charging her with embezzlement of public funds valued at less than $10,000.
According to warrants, Alford, while employed at the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, allegedly converted $400 in cash to personal use by voiding a customer’s transaction. The investigation was initiated at the request of the SCDMV.
Following her arrest, Alford was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center in Darlington County. The case will be prosecuted by the 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
